PARIS, 26 June (APM) - Sanofi on Friday announced to employee representatives that it is planning to shed up to 1,680 jobs in Europe by 2022, including around 1,000 in France and 700 in research and development, APM has learned.
According to documents seen by APM, between 1,370 and 1,680 jobs in Europe would be cut by 2022, including 630 to 690 in industrial affairs, 600 to 730 in R&D and 510 to 570 in support functions. Simultaneously, 310 to 370 positions could be created in the four business units that have priority (general medicine, specialty medicine, vaccines, consumer healthcare).
The plan called 'Play to win' focuses efforts and investments on four growth drivers: the IL-13/4 inhibitor Dupixent (dupilumab), vaccines, portfolio extension and China.
This plan is part of the group's new strategy, presented in December 2019 to save €2 billion by 2022 (APMHE 65437).
The plan in France is due to be presented to the Group Committee on Monday and detailed in each entity at the beginning of July.
